Holy Communion

Welcome
Our 2009 - 2010 First Holy Communion Programme has now started. As the course progresses we will give you information at the start of each meeting, at parents meetings and via letters, as well as through this web page.

Please check this page regularly for new information during the course of the programme.

Notices
If you have not already done so, please cover your child's book to keep it clean and tidy. The cover must be easily removable as the children will present their work on the First Holy Communion day and we want the books to look as good as new. It would also be helpful if the child's name is clearly written on the inside front cover. Any work not finished in the chapter during the Preparation Session should be completed at home before the next session.
Please hand in your £10 donations and return any tie orders to us at one of the meetings in January.

Format of Programme
The Preparation Sessions for the Children are before the 11am Mass, running from 9:45am until 10:45am. The children need to bring their books to each Preparation Session. Please bring the children to the Parish Hall promptly for the start of each Session. The children will then join you again in the Church for the Celebration Mass immediately after the Preparation Session. It is very important that the children are at Mass every Sunday as well as participating in all the Preparation Sessions, Celebration Masses and Retreat Day.

Becoming a more active member of your community
The children will be learning about becoming more active members of the Parish Community and there are a number of opportunities over the next few months to put this into practice. Every Celebration Mass some of the children will read, as well as one of the parents - we are still looking for volunteers for the last few meetings! At the end of each Preparation Session the children are given a drink and a snack - there is a list for volunteers to help. After each Celebration Mass tea and coffee is served in the Parish Hall - again, there is a list for volunteers to help. Helpers for the next two meetings are:
10th January - Children's Drinks:
Keata Glenton, Reader: Nakiboneka Deborah Ssenabulya
After Mass: Jackie Rose & Diane Priday

31st January - Children's Drinks:
Anne Strafford, Reader: James Cooney
After Mass: Emma Madigan & Shirley Robertson.
